A South Jersey man who was shot by police last month has been charged with several weapons offenses, authorities said. Jalial Whitted, 37 of Absecon was charged in connection with a May 24 standoff with police in the 700 block of New Road in Absecon, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Review of video surveillance showed Whitted displayed a gun inside the store, causing the employees to flee outside. A 32-year-old man from Middlesex County has been charged in the fatal stabbing of a Jersey Shore man after a door-to-door solicitation, authorities said. On Thursday, May 26, Michael Tsamas, of Laurence Harbor, was charged with murder in connection with the death of Joseph Delgardio in Jackson Township earlier that evening, they said. Teen Boy Dead, Sister Rescued After Sand Collapses In On NJ Beach
An 18-year-old boy died and his 17-year-old sister was rescued when sand collapsed in on them while they were digging at a New Jersey beach Tuesday, May 17, authorities said. Levy Caverley, of Maine, was identified as the victim by Toms River police. He and his family were spending the afternoon at the beach, and he and his sister were digging a hole near the Seaview Road entrance on the barrier island when it collapsed in around 4:10 p.m., local police said. A pair of out-of-state contractors has admitted to stealing from customers whose homes were damaged by Superstorm Sandy, authorities said. On Friday, May 6,, John Bishop, 57, of Celebration, Florida, pleaded guilty to theft by failure to make required disposition, they said. A 57-year-old man from Burlington County has been indicted in connection with the drug overdose death of an Ocean County man, authorities said.
