A 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed and a 49-year-old dirt bike operator was seriously injured in a crash Sunday, Sept. 8 on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River, authorities said. Antonio Caprara, 26, of Beachwood, was heading south on the right shoulder while Lenny Ritorto, of Toms River, was heading south on the acceleration lane from the Exit 81 entrance ramp when the two collided near milepost 81.7 around 1 p.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. A 27-year-old Newark, DE man has been charged with murder in the crash that killed an 18-year-old University of Delaware freshman from New Jersey. Brian Briddle was identified as the operator of the motorcycle that an officer had tried stopping before he sped off at East Main Street west of South Chapel Street just before midnight on Wednesday, Aug. 27, city police said. A 19-year-old man was killed in an Atlantic County motorcycle crash over the weekend, police said. Jeremiah Saint Surin, of Mays Landing, was heading east on West Jersey Avenue approaching Cates Road in Egg Harbor when he struck a Ford Explorer that entered the intersection around 6:15 p.m. Saturday, June 1, Egg Harbor police said.
