Fishing Boat Accident Closes Two Mile Bridge
The Middle Thorofare Two Mile Bridge was closed due to a boat crash on Saturday, Aug. 31, officials said. Wildwood Crest Mayor Don Cabrera posted a statement around 6:15 a.m. saying the 85-year-old bridge was struck by a fishing vessel. It had not reopened as of 9 a.m. "If you are traveling from the Wildwoods or into Wildwood’s early this morning and plan to use this bridge you may want to take alternate routes," the mayor said. The bridge had been closed earlier this month after the drive shaft broke.

Water Restrictions Issued Across These Jersey Shore Counties
Customers in two counties were asked to conserve water as crews made emergency repairs at a treatment plant, officials said. New Jersey American Water issued a mandatory outdoor water conservation restriction for customers in Monmouth and Ocean counties, the company said in a news release on Sunday, July 14. The order was expected to last for 48 hours. The company said crews will fix a 36-inch valve at its Jumping Brook Water Treatment Plant in Neptune. Nearly $6 million in federal infrastructure money will go toward the redevelopment of the waterfront including a new Ferry Terminal in Carteret, federal and local officials announced on Wednesday, June 26. Atlantic City is getting $20 million to reconstruct and raise Route 40 as it approaches the city to end flooding that makes the major road and evacuation route dangerous during severe weather, federal officials said.
