Lee Jr., 36, of Bridgeton, was shot to death July 30 while trying to break up a fight at Maplewood Gardens apartments. He was survived by six children, a fiancée and a sister. Police identified the shooter as Ryan A. Askins, 29, of Bridgeton, who remains at large. Another armed man involved in the fight was charged with a weapons offense. Firefighters quickly got to the Third Street address off Essex Street shortly before 8:30 p.m. and had the fire under control in barely a half-hour.
