A 44-year-old man from Vineland has been convicted in connection with a pair of fatal shootings in 2015, authorities said.
On Friday, April 12, Sheldon M. Goldsborough, Sr. was convicted for two counts of aggravated manslaughter, conspiracy to commit murder and aggravated assault, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.

A Cumberland County jury has found a daycare worker not guilty in an abuse and neglect case, authorities said.
Claudia J. Smith-Heard, 51, of Millville, was accused of aggressive behavior to get a 4-year-old boy to take a nap on his first day of child care at Golden Gate center on Nov. 1, 2021, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Vineland police.
A jury found Smith-Heard not guilty on all counts on Wednesday, Feb. 21 after a trial, according to Crystal Harris, criminal division manager.

A 50-year-old man from South Jersey has been found guilty of sexual assault on an ex-girlfriend whom he held captive with a hatchet, authorities said.
Julio Sigurani, Jr., of the Rosenhayn section of Deerfield Township, was convicted on Tuesday, Sept. 19, on eight counts including sexual assault, kidnapping, burglary, terroristic threats and weapons offenses, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
The charges stem from a sexual assault that occurred on Aug. 13, 2020, in Deerfield.

A 25-year-old Vineland woman was shot and killed, authorities said.
In the early morning hours of Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, Shanelle Stewart of Vineland was found dead inside a vehicle in the 2000 block of Wheaton Avenue, Millville having succumbed to her injuries, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
Alex Blocker, 34, of Bridgeton, was arrested by members of the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office and Millville Police Department. Blocker has been charged with murder and weapons offenses, the prosecutor said.

Man, 25, Shot Dead In Cumberland County: Police
A 25-year-old Bridgeton man was shot and killed, authorities said.
On Sunday, Sept. 3, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Bridgeton police responded to Mount Vernon Street on for a report of a gunshot victim, Bridgeton police said.
Police found the victim, identified as Brian Pineda, who resided at the residence, suffering from gunshot wounds, tney said.
Officers immediately attempted live-saving efforts until Bridgeton Fire Dept. EMTs arrived. The victim did not survive and was pronounced dead a shot time later.

On Sunday, Aug. 20, at about 4:45 a.m., Millville police were called to the 500 block of North 6th Street for shots fired, police said.
Two gunshot victims were found inside of a residence, a 36-year-old female with a wound to the lower leg, and a 14-year-old girl with a wound to the chest, police said.

A 40-year-old man was stabbed to death ni Cumberland County, authorities said.
On Tuesday, July 25, at 4:44 p.m., Millville police responded to the 600 block of High Street, Millville for a report of shots fired, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
Police found the victim, Salmadine Johnson, of the 600 block of Buck Street, dead from an apparent stabbing wound, the prosecutor said.

What started as a fun summer day for 14-year-old Chel'mar Townsend ended in tragedy on Monday, July 10.
Chel'mar, who went by MarMar, "was doing what a normal teenager would do in the summer, just hanging out in the neighborhood park," his family said on a GoFundMe, "and sadly, it ended with him running for his life and being shot in his back."
