Driver Was Spinning Tires Before Killing NJ Lawyer In Nashville Crosswalk: Police
A 58-year-old New Jersey attorney and lobbyist was killed in Nashville, TN on Saturday, Oct. 19 after he was struck by a vehicle, authorities said.
Michael O'Connell, of Belmar, was crossing the street with the walk light when he was struck by 2009 Dodge pickup truck attempting to make a left turn, Nashville police said in a release. The driver, Joey Nixon, 36, had a green light but failed to yield to the pedestrian, police said. O’Connell died at the scene, police said.
Nixon was spinning his tires and speeding prior to the crash, witnesses told police.

NJ College Student Jillian Ludwig Dies After Being Shot In Head: Nashville Police
Jillian Ludwig, the 18-year-old college student from New Jersey who was shot while walking on a track in Nashville earlier this week, has died, police said.
Ludwig, a Belmar native, was in critical condition ever since Tuesday, Nov. 7, when she was struck by a stray bullet fired by 29-year-old Shaquille Taylor, who was shooting at a car from a public housing complex across the street, Metro Nashville police said.
The Belmont University freshman, an avid runner and musician, died less than two days later, the police department said on Thursday, Nov. 9.

For more than a decade, a laborer believed to living in the U.S. illegally sexually abused a child in Bergen County and at the Jersey Shore, authorities said Monday.
Federal authorities have placed a detainer on Jonan Pascasio-Erazo, a 46-year-old Salvadoran national living in Waldwick, who was jailed late last week.
Pascasio-Erazo sexually assaulted the victim in Waldwick, Mahwah and Belmar multiple times, beginning in 2012, up until his arrest, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Authorities ID Woman, 93, Killed In House Fire On Jersey Shore
Authorities have identified the woman killed in a house fire in Belmar on Wednesday, March 15, authorities said.
Frances Colie, 93, was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
The fire broke out at about 4 p.m. on the 1700 block of Surf Avenue.
There has been no indication of any foul play being involved, the prosecutor's office said.

Two people died in a crash Sunday, Dec. 18 on the Garden State Parkway on Monmouth County, authorities said.
Jerome Digiovanni, 75, of Toms River, was partially stopped in the right lane in a Chevrolet Equinox with Ronald Devingo, 57, also of Toms River, standing to the left of the vehicle near mile post 97.7 in Wall Township around 1:30 p.m., New Jersey State Police said.

Drivers With Eerily Similar Names Among Three Dead In Stafford Crash
Police released the names of three people who died on Sunday, May 29, in a head-on collision in Stafford that shut down a road for several hours.
Tamarr Williams, 38, of Woodbridge, lost control of his 1995 Lexus and veered into oncoming traffic on Austin Ridge Drive around 7:30 p.m., the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said.
The car struck a northbound Hyundai Elantra driven by Tamara Williams, 27, of Fredericksburg. The drivers were not related.
Andrea Forte, 35, of Stafford, who was a passenger in the Lexus, also died in the collision, deputies said.
