On Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 5:19 p.m., Bridgeton police were dispatched to the area of Bank Street and Marion Street for an assault. According to reports, the victim, a 59-year-old Bridgeton resident, was walking on Bank Street and was assaulted by a group of four juveniles. The juveniles removed property from the victim and fled the area on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention.
At 5:55 p.m., while police were investigating the Bank Street robbery, officers were approached by another victim, a 23-year-old Bridgeton resident, who stated that he was robbed on Mayor Aitken Drive near the dog park.
The victim said that four juvenile males approached him, brandished a firearm and demanded his property. The victim refused to turn over his property and was assaulted by the males. The juveniles removed approximately $300 out of the victim’s wallet and fled the area. The victim was transported to Inspira Bridgeton for minor injuries.
While investigating these incidents, police located and arrested four male juveniles who were charged with numerous offenses including the following: Robbery, Conspiracy, Simple Assault, Theft, Aggravated Assault, Obstruction, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of an Imitation Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Weapon.
The youths, between 14 and 17 years old, from Bridgeton and Millville, were taken to Essex County Juvenile Detention Center.
