A Wall Township man admitted to stealing a vehicle he borrowed and selling it in Georgia, authorities said. Jaquel Accoo, 29, pleaded guilty on Monday, Oct. 28 to motor vehicle theft and witness tampering, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release. A vehicle crashed and overturned on the Garden State Parkway during the morning commute in Monmouth County, officials said. The crash happened north of Exit 98 on the southbound side of the parkway in Wall Township on Wednesday, Oct. 2, the state Department of Transportation said. Three swimmers were rescued while in the water after sunset in Ocean Grove, officials said. Rescuers were called to a swimmer in distress near the pier at the Main Avenue beach at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, the ANSWER team said in a Facebook post. The founding owner of the Circus Drive-In diner known for its 12-foot clown sign has died at the age of 95. Richard J. “Dick” Friedel, who founded the 64-year-old eatery on Route 35 in Wall Township, died on Oct. 27, his obituary said. The Circus Drive-In was demolished in 2018. It featured car-door service that included seafood, burgers and shakes. He was born in Bogota, NJ, and was married for 53 years.
