New Rankings Released: Two Jersey Shore High Schools Make U.S. Top 50
Three Jersey Shore public high schools were recognized among the 100 best in the U.S., according to an education data website. Niche has released its 2025 Best Public High Schools in America list. The website said its rankings are based on "rigorous analysis of key statistics," U.S. Department of Education data, and millions of reviews from students and parents. A Barnegat Township man will spend several years in prison after admitting to having heroin, cocaine, and a stolen gun, authorities said. Quaison Ellis, 25, was sentenced on Friday, Sept. 13 to 10 years in state prison, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release. A Barnegat Township man admitted to having heroin, cocaine, and a stolen gun, authorities said. Three people from Paterson were accused of distracting shoppers in Brick Township and stealing from them, authorities said. Brick Township police arrested 35-year-old Oswaldo Uribe-Acosta, 27-year-old Salvia Beraun-Villanueva, and 58-year-old Oscar Lopez-Salcedo on Tuesday, June 11, the department said in a news release. A Monroe Township man was convicted of abusing his six-year-old son during a treadmill workout that ultimately led to the boy's death, authorities said. After a six-week trial, a jury unanimously found 32-year-old Christopher Gregor guilty on Friday, May 31 of aggravated manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release. Three people were accused of taking part in a "distract and grab" ring across the tri-state area, including outside of two stores on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. The three were arrested in connection with the incidents in July and August 2023, Stafford Township police announced in a Saturday, Mar. 2 news release. A propane tank is to blame for the home explosion that killed a 45-year-old Jersey Shore man on Tuesday, Oct. 31, authorities said. Kevin Thomas, 45, was found on his front lawn of 253 Neptune Dr., with serious burns, and airlifted to Temple Burn Center in Philadelphia after the explosion that turned into a fire ravaged his house, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. A 47-year-old Ocean County man took a new car on a test drive and didn't return it, authorities said. The 2023 GMC Sierra was later discovered near the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, according to Stafford Township police. On Saturday, Feb. 18, at about 8:15 p.m., Stafford police received a call from Barlow GMC car dealership that a car had not been returned from a morning test drive. A 37-year-old man wanted on a warrant was arrested on the Jersey Shore on multiple drug charges involving methamphetamine and heroin, authorities said.
