NJ Ranks Among Top States For Hospital Safety In Fall 2024, Leapfrog Report Finds
New Jersey hospitals are among the safest in the nation, according to the fall 2024 Hospital Safety Grade report from The Leapfrog Group. The Garden State ranks in the top 10 states for the highest percentage of "A" hospitals, joining states like Utah, Virginia, and Connecticut. The grades, which are updated twice a year, assess nearly 3,000 hospitals across the country on their effectiveness at preventing medical errors, accidents, and infections. Police have identified the 19-year-old swimmer who drowned in a New Jersey lake over the weekend. Daniel Miranda, of San Marcos, Guatemala, was taken to Inspira Hospital in Mullica Hill, where he was pronounced dead, Elk Township police said. Elk Township officers were called to Lake Garrison in Gloucester County for a missing person last seen in the water around 2:10 p.m. Saturday, July 20, Elk Township Police Chief Lance Hitzelberger said. The family of a 48-year-old welder killed in an explosion that blew him through the roof of a business in Gloucester County has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against his former employer. Bruce A. Passenger Killed After Being Ejected From Jeep In South Jersey
A 69-year-old passenger from Gloucester County was killed after being ejected from a Jeep during a crash in Cumberland County, authorities said. Delia Lugo, of Mullica Hill, was thrown from the Jeep Wrangler and died of her injuries, according to New Jersey State Police. The Jeep was northbound on Route 675 in Fairfield Township at about 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 when the driver ran a stop sign at the intersection with Route 49, State Police said. David "DJ" Joseph Parish, a volunteer with the Clayton Fire Department, died of aspiration pneumonia on Dec. 11, according to his family. The West Deptford resident was 27 years old. A 20-year-old man from Camden County has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of three Ocean County men in Gloucester County, authorities said. A 75-year-old woman from Elk Township was killed in a collision with a pickup truck in Gloucester County, authorities said. Georgette Hayes was killed in the crash on the 200 block of Bridgeton Pike at about 8:35 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, according to Harrison Township police.
