Ventnor City is trying to crack down on thieves taking advantage of a social media trend by helping the car owners who could be targeted. The city's police department said it will give away free steering wheel locks to owners of certain Kia and Hyundai vehicles. The affected Kia vehicles are between the model years 2011 and 2021. Three juveniles were arrested after they attempted to burglarize and steal two cars, authorities said. On Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 5:31 p.m., Atlantic CIty patrol officers responded to the area of North Carolina and Pacific Avenues in reference to three juveniles breaking into vehicles, they said. A pair of teenagers were arrested after their stolen vehicle overheated, authorities said. On Friday, Aug. 18, at 2:20 p.m., Atlantic City Police Officers Troy Grams and Michael Regalbuto observed a Kia Rio traveling in the area of the 1200 block of Drexel Avenue.
