Toms River Man Sentenced For Dealing Heroin Throughout Ocean County A Toms River man was sentenced after admitting to selling heroin throughout Ocean County, authorities said. Zachary Lockwood, 25, was sentenced on Friday, Apr. 5 to 10 years in prison, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced in a news release. He'll be eligible for parole after five years. Lockwood pleaded guilty to possession of one-half ounce or more of heroin with intent to distribute, being a certain person not to possess a weapon, and resisting arrest on Monday, Feb. 12. He also pleaded guilty to an unrelated eluding charge from a second incident. A judge ordered on Thursday, Feb. 22 that Eric Manzanares, 24, of Asbury Park, will remain detained in the Ocean County Jail pending his trial, county prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced. He was charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Driver Dies After Car Flips Into Toms River Marsh A 28-year-old Toms River man died after his car overturned into a marsh Saturday, Nov. 26, authorities said. Paolo Helfers-Lariva was believed to have been speeding southbound on Hooper Avenue when he lost control and overturned into the water at the South Shore Driver intersection around 2:25 a.m., Toms River police said. Two occupants were able to free themselves but Helfers-Lariva remained trapped and submerged. Pennsylvania Woman, 34, Struck, Killed After Climbing Over Traffic Barrier On Jersey Shore A 34-year-old Pennsylvania woman was struck and killed by a car after she tried climbing over a traffic barrier on the Jersey Shore Friday, authorities said. Ebony Shepherd, 34, of Johnstown, was hit while trying to cross Hooper Avenue near James Street at about 6 p.m. Friday, Toms River police said.  She was taken to Community Medical Center and airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick.
