Firefighters Save Dog Caught In Tide In Hereford Inlet, Firefighters Say A dog was rescued from an inlet in Cape May County, officials said. The Stone Harbor and North Wildwood fire departments responded to the Hereford Inlet for a water rescue at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, the Stone Harbor firefighters union said in a Facebook post. Firefighters received a report that a dog named Bruno was swimming far from shore and in distress. A boat crew went to the inlet and quickly found Bruno struggling to swim in the tide. The popular vacation spot is finalizing the plans to reconstruct its part of the Wildwoods Boardwalk, according to a post on the city's Facebook page on Monday, Feb. 5. The first phase of the project is expected to begin in the fall and work will happen between 16th and 18th avenues. The total rebuild of North Wildwood's boardwalk section is anticipated to cost about $34 million, with about $3.5 million going toward the first phase of the project.
