81-Year-Old Driver Suffered 'Medical Emergency' Before Fatal South Jersey Crash: Police An 81-year-old driver from West Deptford suffered a "medical emergency" before a fatal crash, authorities said. Tannis Vanderwerken  crashed into a utility pole at Grove Avenue and Woodbury Terrance in West Deptford at 5:28 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, police said. Vanderwerken was taken to Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill where she was pronounced dead, police said. The Gloucester County Medical Examiner’s Office said that Vanderwerken died as a result of injuries suffered in the collision, police said.

Shooter In Murder-Suicide Was Retired Atlantic City Police Officer The man who shot and killed his ex-girlfriend before killing himself was a retired Atlantic City police officer, authorities confirmed. William Beattie, 47, retired from the police force on Feb. 1, 2010, according to public records. Police were called to Ogden Road in Deptford at 6:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28. They found the bodies of the resident, Erin Gatier, 47, and Beattie, of Landisville, inside, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office. Murder Suicide: Boyfriend Kills Girlfriend Then Himself In South Jersey, Authorities Say An Atlantic County man killed himself after fatally shooting his Gloucester County girlfriend, authorities said. Police were called to Ogden Road in Deptford at 6:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28. They found the bodies of the resident, Erin Gatier, 47, and William Beattie, also 47, of Landisville, inside, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
