Woman, 33, Killed In South Jersey Hit-And-Run Crash: Prosecutors
A Barnegat woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Galloway Township, authorities said. Angeletta Sheppard, 33, died in the crash on Thursday, Sept. 12, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release. Galloway Township police responded to the crash involving a pedestrian on Route 30 West near Seventh Avenue at around 7:54 p.m. The vehicle left the scene before officers arrived. An Atlantic County man was convicted of driving with a suspended license after he had at least two DUIs, authorities said. Thomas Fox III, 60, of Absecon, was found guilty by a jury on Tuesday, Apr. 9, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a new release. He was convicted on a two-count indictment for fourth-degree driving during license suspension for prior DUIs. Pair Found With Defaced Gun After Galloway Vehicle Break-In: Police
Two men from South Jersey were arrested after they broke into someone's car and had a defaced gun, authorities said. Galloway Township police said they received a call from a potential theft victim at around 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30. The man said he had checked his surveillance footage and saw someone broke into his vehicle at around 1:30 a.m. Officers began checking the area and noticed a Nissan Altima parked on Smithville Boulevard. Three teenagers were arrested after fleeing police in a stolen car that later crashed and caught fire, authorities said. A Galloway police officer rescued the unconscious driver of the car that landed in an Absecon marsh during the chase, Galloway Township police said. The boy was hospitalized. Atlantic County Man Sentenced For Handgun Possession
A 22-year-old man from Absecon was sentenced to New Jersey State Prison for the unlawful possession of a handgun, authorities said. Quasir Smith was sentenced on Tuesday, May 9 to a five-year state prison term, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. On Feb. 10, 2022, Galloway Township Police responded to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – Mainland Campus, for a report of a handgun found on Smith by hospital personnel, the prosecutor said. Smith did not have a permit to carry the handgun. He was subsequently placed under arrest.
