Roofer Dies After Concrete Slab Collapses On Him: Egg Harbor PD A 23-year-old roofer was killed in Egg Harbor Township on the afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 28, after a slab of concrete collapsed on him, authorities said. At 3:10 p.m., a roofing crew was cleaning up after conducting demolition/construction on the exterior of the Club at Tilton, Egg Harbor Township police said.  Two units have staircases on the 2nd floor that meet halfway down and merge into one staircase, that goes to ground level, police said. NJ Mom Killed By Falling Tree While Camping With Family In Furious Upstate NY Storm A New Jersey woman was killed in upstate New York over the weekend when a tree fell on her camper during fierce thunderstorms that ripped through the region, authorities said. At about 10:50 a.m. the Delaware County 911 Center received multiple reports of trees down on campers at multiple locations with an individual trapped at the Russell Brook Campground in the Town of Colchester. Aspiring State Trooper, 25, Killed By Backyard Bonfire Explosion In Atlantic County An aspiring Florida state trooper died four days after catching fire at a backyard bonfire in Atlantic County.  James Nelson Davis III, 25, was airlifted to Temple Hospital's Burn Center in Philadelphia on Christmas night with burns over 90 percent of his body, DailyVoice.com previously reported. He died the night of Dec. 29. Mullica Township Police Chief Brian Zeck told NJ Advance Media that Davis used a gas can to re-ignite the flame and it exploded. The fire has been ruled accidental, the chief said. Woman Struck, Killed By Hit-Run Driver In Somerset County, Prosecutor Says A woman was struck and killed by a driver who fled the scene earlier this week, authorities announced. Treasa M. Daye-Fennie, 50, was crossing Somerset Street near High Street in Franklin Township when a southbound vehicle struck her and fled the scene just before 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, Acting Somerset County Prosecutor Thomas Chirichella said in Friday release. Daye-Fennie, of New Brunswick, was pronounced dead at the scene, Chirichella said. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
