Proposed Hotels, Upscale Restaurant Will Transform Vacant Cherry Hill Land
Two hotels and a restaurant will be built on a largely vacant strip of land in Cherry Hill, officials said. The 11-acre site contains a Magic Car Wash, former gas station and quarry. It's considered a prime location for development because it's on Route 70 West just 11 miles from Philadelphia. The project includes two five-story hotels: a 120-room Hampton Inn & Suites and 131-room Residence Inn by Marriott, according to plans by KM Hotels of Richmond, VA, the developer. Body Recovered From Delaware & Raritan Canal In Mercer County
First responders were pulling a body from the Delaware & Raritan Canal in Mercer County on Wednesday afternoon, July 3, authorities said. New Jersey State Park Police and the Trenton Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team were called to a part of the canal in Lawrence Township to recover the body, according to Caryn Shinske, a spokeswoman with the state Department of Environmental Protection. A medical examiner was en route to the scene at 2:15 p.m., she said. Additional details weren’t immediately available.

2-Year-Old Rescued From Sand Collapse On NJ Beach
A toddler was rescued on a Monmouth County beach after the sand around him collapsed, authorities said. Sea Girt police said officers responded to an incident at Neptune Beach involving a missing child at around 11:22 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10. When officers arrived, the parents of a two-year-old boy said he was playing on the beach when the sand around him collapsed. The boy's father was able to pull him out of the sand within two to three minutes. The boy remained conscious and was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment. Historic Lighthouse Shined-Up In Months-Long Restoration On Jersey Shore
]Barnegat Lighthouse will close to visitors for the next seven months as the Department of Environmental Protection begins a $1.3 million restoration of the historic lighthouse, New Jersey officials said. The lighthouse closes for construction on Monday, March 14, according to DEP Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette. Construction work through October will involve a complete exterior restoration of the lighthouse, masonry recoating and repairs to the brick facade, interior lantern steel platform repairs, roof repairs and the installation of new windows.
