Child Found In 'Deplorable' Home, Cape May Pair In Custody: Authorities
A man and woman from Woodbine are facing charges after authorities found a child in their care living in "deplorable conditions," officials said. Wanda Storms, 64, and Kevin Storms, 35, are each charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland announced the charges on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Authorities officially identified a cab driver and passenger who were both killed when a sedan driven by a suspect fleeing police crashed head-on into the taxi at an Elizabeth intersection. Juan Carlos Albear, 54, who was behind the wheel, and Ysabell Gonzalez, 63, were killed in the violent collision at Grand Street and Routes 1&9 shortly before 6 a.m. last Dec 10. A juvenile has been charged in the fatal shooting of a Gloucester County resident, authorities said. Two other people were charged with related crimes, they said. On Saturday, Dec. 2, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Woodbury City police were dispatched to Wing-Dickerson Park, at 36 Carpenter St., for the report of a shooting. One ex-con was sentenced to a plea-bargained 8½ years in federal prison and another a little more than seven -- both without parole -- for shooting a taxi driver during a late-night robbery in Elizabeth. A 29-year-old man shot on Nov. 16 in Camden has died of his injuries, authorities said. Edward Ross of Camden City remained in critical condition until Tuesday, Nov. 21, when he succumbed to his injuries, Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. A body was found amid the dropoffs at a Jersey Shore recycling plant, authorities confirmed. The adult male corpse was discovered at the Mazza Recycling plant in Tinton Falls on Wednesday, Nov. 8, Chris Swendeman of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office confirmed.
