Roofing Work Causes Fire, $50K In Damage To Wildwood Home: Firefighters
A fire broke out at a Cape May County home about four blocks from the beachfront, officials said. Wildwood firefighters responded to the house on the 100 block of East Roberts Avenue at around 3:36 on Wednesday, May 22, the department said in a Facebook post. The first crew on the scene saw smoke coming from the back and roof of the two-story home. All humans inside the two-family house were able to get out safely. A dolphin has been stuck in a Cape May County creek for several days and marine biologists said they're figuring out how to rescue it. In a Facebook post, The Marine Mammal Stranding Center said it has been monitoring the bottlenose dolphin since it was first reported in Cape May Court House on Thursday, May 16. A Cape May County man was accused of having methamphetamine, a BB gun, and burglary tools, authorities said. Alexander Hudson, 30, of Wildwood Crest, was arrested at around 3:29 p.m. on Friday, May 3. The Wildwood Crest Police Department announced his arrest in a news release on Friday, May 10. Michelle Stanton, 29, of Lower Township, was charged with second-degree manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child. Four men were arrested in a police operation trying to stop child sex crimes in Cape May County, authorities said. 2024 Avalon Beach Sand Back Passing Project
A Cape May County borough has approved a plan to fix erosion-damaged parts of the beach in time for the summer. Avalon is expected to begin a sand back passing project on or around Monday, May 13, the borough said in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Apr. 30. Crews will move about 55,000 cubic yards of sand to beaches in Avalon's north end that suffered erosion during winter storms.
