The Westampton Fire Department arrived at the blaze within three minutes after the fire broke out at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire throughout the residence, according to a release from Westampton Township Emergency Services. Man, 23, Sentenced For Setting Fatal Fire In South Jersey A 23-year-old Burlington Township man was sentenced to 22 years in New Jersey State Prison for starting a fire that killed a man, authorities said. Newlin Evans IV, who was sentenced on Monday, June 5,  pleaded guilty in January to aggravated manslaughter for setting the fatal fire, according to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw. The two-alarm fire broke out Wednesday, April 12 at the vacated campus’ former Academic Building on Pemberton Browns Mills Road, according to Pemberton Township police. Under an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office, Newlin Evans IV entered a guilty plea in Superior Court in Mount Holly to aggravated manslaughter in exchange for a 22-year sentence in state prison, of which 85 percent must be served before he becomes eligible for parole. Kurt Smith was sentenced on Thursday, Feb. 10 in Superior Court in Mount Holly, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina. 74-Year-Old Woman Killed In South Jersey House Fire: Police A 74-year-old woman was killed in a house fire, authorities said.  At 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Medford police, firefighters and EMS crews responded to the 100 block of Taunton Boulevard. Emergency responders arrived on location within minutes of the calls and found fire coming out of the first and second-floor windows, according to Medford police. The unidentified woman was found deceased on the residence's second floor, police said.
