Car Crashes Into Toll Booth On Garden State Parkway In Ocean County
A car crashed into a toll booth on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County, causing an afternoon traffic slowdown. The New Jersey Department of Transportation said a vehicle overturned at the southbound toll plaza in Barnegat. The crash happened just after noon on Friday, Feb. 9. Traffic cameras showed a car on its roof up against a booth in the far left lane of the plaza. The crash closed down at least one lane.

'Free-Spirited' NJ Dad Killed In Crash, Mom Hospitalized In ICU
A family is rallying to support Ocean County children whose father was killed in a crash and mother, his wife, seriously injured. State police said 34-year-old George Francis of Lanoka Harbor died when his SUV drove off the Garden State Parkway south at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25. The crash happened near mile marker 68.2 in Barnegat. The SUV went down a ditch and hit a retaining wall, along with several trees. George Francis was ejected from the SUV and died from his injuries. An Ocean County woman admitted to selling opioids and methamphetamine across New Jersey after police found tens of thousands of pain medication pills in her home, authorities said. Laurie Maxson, 54, of Barnegat, pleaded guilty on Monday, Jan. 29 to conspiracy to distribute more than five ounces of methamphetamine. Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced the plea on Tuesday, Jan. 30. An Ocean County man was killed in a crash when his SUV drove off the Garden State Parkway and he wound up ejected from the vehicle, authorities said. Troopers responded to mile marker 68.2 in Barnegat at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, according to state police. NJ Parents Tried To Get Son Psychiatric Help Right Before He Killed Them, Police Say
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, Cheryl Mulgrew called police seeking a psychiatric evaluation for her 34-year-old son, Michael Mulgrew, who had been experiencing a mental health problem, police documents say. But Michael Mulgrew came home later that night seeming calm, and so Cheryl, 69, told police not to bother, and she'd take him to the doctors in the morning, the affidavit says. An Uber driver has been charged with criminal sexual contact after touching a rider inappropriately, authorities said. Jersey Shore Motorcyclist Dylan DeStefano Dies In Crash, 19
Dylan DeStefano died in a motorcycle crash on Wednesday, Oct. 12 of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident, his obituary says. He was 19 years old. The Barnegat/Manahawkin resident's greatest passions were his Honda Street Bike and his Nissan 350 Z, next to physical fitness, his obit says. Dylan was a valued employee of Mud City, where he was considered family. Hundreds of people who knew and loved Dylan turned out for a memorial in his honor last week.
