Heroin Kingpin Who Ran Fatal Drug Ring From Atlantic County Jail Eligible For Parole In 9 Years
A man who ran a heroin-selling network from the Atlantic County Jail was sentenced, authorities said. Emery Chapman, 44, of Pleasantville, was sentenced to 21 years in state prison, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced on Friday, Feb. 2. Chapman will be eligible for parole after nine years and once he's released, he'll have five years of "intensive parole supervision" under the No Early Release Act. Man Tried Luring Atlantic City Girl With Whistles, Hand Gestures: Police
A registered sex offender was arrested after trying to lure a 12-year-old girl with whistles and hand gestures, authorities said. The girl was sitting outside her home on North Sovereign Avenue when a man rode by on a bicycle, according to Atlantic City police. The man stopped and went into the backyard where he attempted to hide. He then used hand signals and whistles to try and get the girl's attention, police said. Corrections Officer Charged With Sexually Assaulting Girl In Cape May County
A 33-year-old corrections officer from the Cape May County Correctional Facility has been charged with sexually assaulting a girl, authorities said. Jonathan Perez was arrested on that charge as well as for aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Fugitive Sought In Fatal Atlantic City Shooting
A 47-year-old fugitive is sought in a fatal shooting of a Philadelphia man in Atlantic City, authorities said. Kenneth Creek of Atlantic City has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and weapons offenses, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said. Creek is believed to be armed and dangerous. He should not be approached, the office warned.
