Atlantic City has a police officer assigned to each school in its district, officials said. The city's government, police department, and school district agreed to put an officer in each K-8 school and two officers in Atlantic City High School throughout the 2024-25 academic year, the city said in a news release. Substitute Teacher Gave Fake ID At South Jersey Middle School, Police Say
An Egg Harbor Township woman was accused of giving false identification when she arrived at a school to be a substitute teacher, authorities said. Katherine MacPherson, 35, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 9, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department said in a news release. Officers received a call from school district security about a female substitute teacher at Alder Avenue Middle School with a seemingly fraudulent teacher identification. Sidewalk Save: Bodycam Footage Shows NJ Officers Saving Choking Baby
Newly-released body-worn camera footage shows two New Jersey police officers saving a choking baby. Hightstown Officers Daniel Abbatemarco and Kenneth Larsen responded to a call of a choking baby girl on March 31. Upon arrival, they were met by a man holding the girl. Larsen arrived on scene and quickly performed the Infant Heimlich Maneuver on the girl, who was breathing again in a matter of seconds. Seven people were arrested in a drug bust in Atlantic City, authorities said. Atlantic City police investigated drug dealing happening between the 2500 and 3000 blocks of Pacific Avenue, the department said in a news release on Friday, Sept. 6. Officers executed three search warrants in the area on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Police seized more than 55 grams of cocaine, 62 individual bags of heroin, prescription pills, and items used to sell drugs. A 62-year-old man from Philadelphia and a 53-year-old woman from Deptford were killed in a head-on crash in Gloucester County, authorities said. Police Investigate Shots Fired In South Jersey City, Shell Casings Found In Road
Police were investigating after shots were fired in Bridgeton, authorities said. Officers responded to a report of shots fired on Mt. Vernon Street at around 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, the Bridgeton Police Department said in a news release. Investigators said spent shell casings were found in the road. A 45-year-old man is facing charges after police say he injured two officers at a Camden County apartment complex last week. Police called to the Fairways Apartment Complex in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township on Monday, Aug. 19 for a disturbance inside an apartment when John R. A video showing the arrest of a 28-year-old surfer from California in New Jersey apparently over failure to possess a beach badge is under review, authorities said. Four Atlantic City boys were accused of stealing an SUV and driving it across Atlantic County, authorities said. A 14-year-old, a 13-year-old, and two 12-year-old boys were given several charges, the Galloway Township Police Department said in a news release on Monday, Aug. 12.
