At 4:45 p.m., a 2022 Range Rover was reported stolen from a parking garage in downtown Summit, police said. Officers used the Range Rover's GPS system to monitor its movements, police said. At 7 p.m., the vehicle was discovered at Pine Street in Elizabeth, occupied by five people, police said. Fire Engulfs Commercial Building In Summit: Authorities A fire tore through a commercial building in Summit on the evening of Monday, Dec. 2, authorities said. At 7:10 p.m., the Summit Fire Department responded to a fire at 789 Springfield Ave., which houses several businesses, a spokesperson for the city said. On arrival, crews found the fire in the attic space of the building and extinguished it, authorities said. Crews determined the fire was caused by a malfunctioning exterior light fixture, authorities said. Damage was mostly contained to the outside of the building and no injuries reported, authorities said.

Werthmann, a sergeant in the Summit Police Department, recently underwent an 8-hour surgery to remove a large acoustic neuroma from his brain.  While surgeons were able to successfully remove the tumor from his brain, Werthmann has experienced complications including paralysis on the left side of his body, partial blindness and the inability to walk without assistance.
