Officer Hospitalized After Crashing Car While Responding To Burglary: Kenilworth PD A police officer in Kenilworth was hospitalized after they got into a car crash while responding to a call on Saturday, March 8, authorities said. At 12:11 p.m., a patrolman was responding to a call of a suspicious person wearing a mask and gloves on Wilshire Drive, Kenilworth police said.  The officer expedited his response due to the heightened state of alertness for occupied home burglaries, police said. Truck Takes Down Cables In Kenilworth A street in Kenilworth was temporarily closed Friday, Nov. 29 after a large truck struck multiple cables, leaving wires and debris scattered, the fire department said. The incident occurred on South Michigan Avenue, where crews from Car 2 and Engine 63 of the KFD, along with Police Chief Campanelli and Kenilworth officers, responded to secure the area. Emergency teams raised the low-hanging wires, allowing the road to reopen shortly after. Drivers are reminded to stay alert for potential hazards following similar incidents.
