A detective with the Bergen County Sheriff's Office has been suspended without pay after he was arrested on child sex offense charges, a spokesperson from the department confirmed. Michael Vermeylen, 42, is charged with trying to engage in sex acts with a minor to whom he sent a naked photo of himself, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced Monday, Feb. 10. A Leonia man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing an Uber driver multiple times in a violent carjacking attempt in Fort Lee, authorities said. Marcus N. Marson, 25, demanded that his 37-year-old male driver give him the vehicle then stabbed him repeatedly on his head, shoulder, and arm, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella and police paperwork. A 37-year-old Fairview man has been charged with attempted murder following a machete attack that left a woman with severe injuries earlier this week, authorities said. A threatening comment from the ex-husband of a store associate cleared the Teterboro Walmart on Tuesday, authorities said. The man had called the Teterboro Landing Walmart shortly before noon June 11, Moonachie Police Lt. Jeff Napolitano said.
