'Sleepless Night:' 2 Hikers Safe After 5-Hour Rescue In North Jersey
Two missing North Jersey hikers were rescued in a five-hour mission early Thursday, Sept. 19, responders said. A Bloomfield man was accused of trying to have sex with a Monmouth County investigator posing online as a teen boy, authorities said. Jonar Arenas, 48, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 18, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release. A Nissan sedan was struck by a New Jersey Transit train Thursday morning, Sept. 19 in Ho-Ho-Kus. A man was fatally shot in the West Ward of Newark on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 18, authorities said.Police in Newark responded to the 300 block of South 7th Street and found the victim dead from a gunshot wound, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. A 39-year-old Bayonne man was arrested and charged on Tuesday, Sept. 17 with setting a home ablaze in the city in July, authorities said. A man was critically injured in a fire in Bayonne on the late afternoon of Monday, Sept. 16, authorities said. At 5:20 p.m., the Bayonne Fire Department responded to 167 West 9th St. after receiving multiple reports of a fire, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
