An elderly woman was fighting for her life after a late-night fire tore through her Trenton home, leaving neighbors injured and displacing multiple residents, authorities said. The 89-year-old woman was critically injured in a house fire on Wednesday, Dec. 4, a Trenton Police Department spokesperson said. A family of two people were without a home and two of their cats died in a house fire in Toms River, authorities said. Firefighters responded to the home on South Gateway at around 9:05 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention said in a news release. Six people were injured, including three firefighters, when townhomes caught fire near the Toms River waterfront, officials said. The Monmouth County home of a 95-year-old woman and her son was destroyed by a fire, according to a fundraising campaign.
