South Jersey HS Athlete Killed By Train Remembered For Playing, Living 'Bigger Than Himself' Friends and loved ones were rallying to support the family of a Palmyra teen killed by a New Jersey Transit train. Matthew Dickinson died on Thursday, Aug. 8, according to the Palmyra School District. He was 15 years old. Dickinson was hit by a River Line train at the Chestnut Street crossing just before 8:20 a.m., a NJ Transit spokesperson said. He was walking to a soccer scrimmage, FOX 29 News reported. Man Dies Saving Two Children From Drowning In South Jersey River: Fundraiser A Mays Landing man was remembered as a hero after dying while saving two children from drowning in the Great Egg Harbor River, according to a fundraising campaign. A GoFundMe page said Pablo Hernandez Cruz died at Weymouth Furnace County Park in Hamilton Township on Wednesday, July 17. Jersey Shore HS Football Player Battling Rare Form Of Cancer: Fundraiser An Atlantic County high school football player is battling a rare form of pediatric cancer, according to a fundraising campaign. A GoFundMe page was created for a boy named Chris who's a junior at Pinelands Regional High School in Little Egg Harbor Township. Chris plays football for the Pinelands Wildcats and also is a player in the South Jersey Flag Football Association. Chris was recently diagnosed with stage three rhabdomyosarcoma.
