Rutgers President To Resign At End Of School Year After Historic, Turbulent Tenure
Jonathan Holloway will resign as president of Rutgers University at the end of the 2024-25 academic year, the school announced. The university's 21st president will step down after finishing his fifth year in office on Monday, June 30, 2025, Rutgers said in a news release on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The U.S. historian plans to take a sabbatical during the 2025-26 year for research projects before joining the Rutgers faculty full time. A New Jersey alternative rock band is releasing a special beer right before playing at an iconic Asbury Park concert venue. The Gaslight Anthem is partnering with Asbury Park Brewery to create "Stay Lucky," a limited-edition beer to be sold starting on Thursday, Aug. 15, the brewery said in a news release. The band that formed in New Brunswick in 2006 will perform at The Stone Pony on Friday, Aug. 16. Stay Lucky is a hazy IPA with peach and mango aromas with a 6.5 percent ABV. Person Struck By Train In New Brunswick: NJ Transit
A person struck by a train briefly delayed NJ Transit service Friday, Aug. 9, officials said. The male was struck by Northeast Corridor train 3875, which left New York Penn Station at 6:47 p.m. around 8:30 p.m. just west of Jersey Ave Station in New Brunswick, NJ Transit officials said. The victim was transported to the hospital with a foot injury. There were no injuries reported to the approximately 300 customers and the crew on board.
