Fire Breaks Out At New Jersey's Oldest Restaurant, Firefighters Say A 300-year-old restaurant in Morris County, billed as New Jersey's oldest, was hit with heavy smoke on the early morning of Monday, Sept. 2, authorities said. At 3:50 a.m., firefighters in Mendham responded to a fire alarm at the Black Horse Tavern and Pub, officials said. Upon arrival, firefighters faced a heavy smoke condition and struck a first alarm, requesting mutual aid, officials said. Rochelle Park House Fire Quickly Knocked Firefighters made quick work of a Rochelle Park house blaze. The fire broke out on the second floor of Parkway home off Rochelle Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, June 16. Firefighters contained it there, knocking down the main body barely 20 minutes before they began. Everyone got out OK and no injuries were reported after the fire ignited on the first floor near the back of the Hudson Avenue home off County Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. June 14. It quickly went to three alarms and then, later, a fourth for coverage. Firefighters had the bulk of the blaze knocked down within a half hour, then remained until 11 p.m. or so dousing hot spots. Update: Dogs Die In New Milford House Fire Two dogs were killed in a New Milford house fire early Tuesday night, authorities said. The residents weren't home when the blaze broke out in the kitchen at the back of the Voorhis Avenue home and quickly spread shortly after 7 p.m., New Milford Police Chief Brian Clancy said. The Livingston Street fire ignited shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, May 16. The Paramus Fire Department’s Foam Unit provided a significant assist extinguishing flames on aluminum shavings that were placed in metal barrels and brought outside.
