Painter Dies After Fall From Ridgewood Roof, Was Seeking Better Life In U.S., Brother Says A Costa Rican painter who fell two stories from a Ridgewood roof has died, authorities confirmed (Haga clic aquí para leer la versión en español). Ridgewood police said they responded to 152 Kenilworth Road on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 1:45 p.m. for a report of an adult male who had fallen. The victim’s brother, Carlos Solis, identified him to Daily Voice as Heriberto Solís Fallas, 40, of Irvington. As previously reported, Solís had been working on the roof when he fell and was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson with serious injuries, according to police. Landscaper Impaled By Tree in Summit: Authorities A landscaper was impaled by a tree in Summit on Friday, June 27, authorities said. The landscaper fell while trimming trees and bushes and a tree branch impaled his neck, causing significant injury, a spokesperson for the City of Summit said. He was rushed to Morristown Medical Center and is in critical but serious condition, authorities said. His identity has not been released, and it is unknown where in Summit the incident occurred.

Worker, 22, Killed While Operating Tree Equipment At Cemetery In Hunterdon County: Prosecutor A 22-year-old Flemington man was killed while operating tree-chipping equipment at a cemetery on Wednesday, July 10, authorities said. At 6:20 p.m., police responded to Saint Magdalen Cemetery in Flemington and found Eonias Mateo-Perez dead from his injuries, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson said.  His death was accidental, authorities said. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating, authorities said.

Metalworker Killed In Forklift Accident In Central Jersey: Police A 46-year-old metalworker from Central Jersey was killed in a forklift accident, authorities said. Jimmy Fernando Parrales Mora, of North Plainfield, was killed in the accident at Diamond Brite Metals, 333 Cedar Ave. in Middlesex, according to borough police. The accident occurred at about 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11.  It was determined that a metal beam fell and struck Parrales Mora while he was working, police said. Parrales Mora was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. OSHA is investigating.
