Newark Burglar Smashed Car Windows Over Three-Day Crime Spree: Police
A 55-year-old Newark resident was arrested and charged with burglary on Friday, Jan. 24 following a multi-day crime spree earlier this month, authorities said.
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, Ferando Pinero entered a 2018 Dodge Grand by shattering the vehicle's rear window, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. said. The victim reported that four hand grinder machines were missing from inside the vehicle, Miranda said.

Dognapper At Large In Newark, Warrant Issued: Police
A 44-year--old Newark woman is on the lam after she took a person's dog on Saturday, Jan. 18, authorities said.
At 3:30 p.m., a woman let her Shih Tzu poodle mix out to roam in the front yard of her home on the 100 block of Norfolk Street, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. said.
When the dog did not return, surveillance footage captured Hymifah Richardson taking the animal and walking south on Norfolk Street, Miranda said.
Richardson is described as 5’5” tall and 200 pounds, Miranda said. She is wanted on charges of burglary, theft, and harassment, Miranda said.

Belleville Burglar Busted In Secaucus, Stole $3K From Trucks: Police
A 23-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged on Friday, Jan. 17 with breaking into trucks in Secaucus last October.
On Tuesday, Oct. 29, officers responded to a fenced in parking lot on Henry Street on a repot of a person, later identified as Luis Najera Mendoza, who broke into six trucks and stole their EZ Pass transponders and portable radios, valued at $3,000, Secaucus police said.
A search of Mendoza's residence turned up several of the stolen items, police said.

Hoboken Lululemon Loses $39K In Merch To Thieves, Police Say
Multiple shoplifters are at large after stealing items from a Lululemon in Hoboken on eight different incidents this year, authorities said.
The shopliftings occurred between Friday, Aug. 30 and Tuesday, Nov. 26, Hoboken police said. Each time, the shoplifters entered the store at 313 Washington St., took multiple items, and left without paying, police said.
The thieves made off with more than $39,000 in merchandise, police said.

Ringwood Woman Stole $700K From Law Firm: Union County Prosecutor
A 54-year-old Ringwood woman was arrested and charged on Thursday, Dec. 12 with stealing more than $700,000 from the law firm she worked at, authorities said.
Between 2018 and 2024 Colleen Hallenbeck, who was employed as a paralegal for a Union County-based law firm, misappropriated funds from various estates handled by the firm, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said.
