Ziyad Cook, a 16-year-old Irvington resident who played football for Irvington High School, was fatally shot in Newark on Thursday, June 26, according to reports. A 16-year-old girl was shot in Newark Friday afternoon, June 27 and is in critical condition, police said. The shooting happened around 5:25 p.m. on the 100 block of Huntington Terrace near Lehigh Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said.
