$12M Bridge Work To Close Portions Of Route 280: Here's Where Drivers heading across the Passaic River on Route 280 between Morris and Essex counties should expect overnight delays next week as a major $12 million construction project gets underway, officials said. Beginning 10 p.m. Monday, July 21, through 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, crews will close lanes in both directions on I-280 between East Hanover and Roseland. Nightly closures will continue through Thursday, July 24, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said. At least one lane will remain open in each direction. Puppy With String Wrapped Around Nose Found Chained To Guardrail On Route 280: Authorities A 7-month old cockapoo is recovering after it was found chained to a guardrail on Route 280 in Roseland on Monday, Jan. 20, authorities said.  The puppy was wet from the snow, shivering and had string tied around its nose, the borough of Roseland said in a release. The puppy had a right rear leg injury and was limping and was not groomed in months, authorities said. Officers provided the puppy with food and water and removed ice that had clung to its fur, authorities said. The truck overturned following a crash on the turnpike at the Western Spur northbound exit ramp at Interchange 15W by Route 280, the Department of Transportation said. Motorcyclist Killed After Being Ejected, Run Over In Route 280 Crash: Police (Update) A 52-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an early-morning crash on Route 280 in Hudson County, police said. Kyle Silas, of Orange, was heading west on a Fly Wing electric motorcycle when he struck a Ford sedan near milepost 16 in Kearny around 4:35 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Silas was ejected then run over by a Dodge, Lebron said. He died as a result of the accident.
