No Charges For NJ Trooper In Fatal Pursuit: AG
A state trooper involved in a pursuit that led to the death of a 76-year-old Vietnam veteran will not face charges, authorities announced on Thursday, May 22, authorities said.
On Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at 10:19 a.m., New Jersey State Trooper Christopher Bird began following an SUV on Route 80 eastbound and initiated a traffic stop, the Warren County Prosecutor's Office said.

Street Takeovers Injure Two Cops In Newark, 5 Arrested: Police
Five people have been arrested for their role in two street takeovers that occurred in Newark last November and last month, authorities said.
On Sunday, November 24, at 1:02 a.m. police responded to Miller Street near McCarter Highway after receiving reports of erratic driving by multiple drivers, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. said.
The suspects began to flee when police arrived, Miranda said. Wyatt Bowden, a 19-year-old Somerville resident, drove over the foot of a Newark police officer, Miranda said. A pursuit ensued and Bowden was taken into custody, Miranda said.

Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Ends In Linden Crash, 3 In Custody: Cops
Three people were in custody in Linden following a pursuit-crash involving a stolen vehicle on Friday, Aug. 30, authorities said.
Police in Linden were notified of a pursuit entering the area around 5:30 p.m., police said in a Facebook post.
The pursuit had been terminated on Route 1 near S. Wood Ave. A short time later, the stolen vehicle struck a curb near the intersection of S. Stiles Street 21st Street and became disabled, police said.
