East Orange Man Fatally Shot In Chest: Prosecutor A 36-year-old East Orange man was killed after he was shot in the chest on Tuesday, Oct. 28, authorities said. At 12:40 p.m., East Orange police responded to 252-256 N. Clinton Street and found Hamza Abdul-Haqq with a gunshot wound to the chest/back area, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II, and East Orange Public Safety Director Maurice Boyd said. He was transferred to University Hospital where he was soon pronounced dead, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.

Unlicensed Driver, 25, Wanted In Deadly Fourth Of July Crash On Route 287: Prosecutor A 25-year-old New York woman has been named "Fugitive of the Month" in one New Jersey county. Angely Betancourt has been charged with reckless death by auto and causing death while driving unlicensed in the July 4, 2022 crash that left one person dead on Route 287 southbound access ramp to Route 78 west in Bedminster, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said. The crash, which happened just before 12:25 p.m., was investigated by New Jersey State Police. The department did not immediately return Daily Voice's request for comment.
