Woman Critically Injured After Hit By Car: Newark PD A woman was critically injured after she was hit by a car in Newark Thursday morning, March 19, authorities said. At 8:11 a.m., police responded to Elizabeth Avenue and Vanderpool Street after the woman was struck while crossing the street, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said. The woman was transported to a nearby for treatment and is in critical condition, Miranda said. The driver remained at the scene, Miranda said.  This incident remains under investigation, Miranda said.
