A 30-year-old Carlstadt nurse was sentenced to probation on Friday, April 4 after his neglect led to the death of a disabled person in East Hanover in 2023, authorities said.
Emilio Rivera was sentenced to three years of probation, following a short jail stint, after pleading guilty to endangering another person and neglect of a disabled person, Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and East Hanover Police Chief Christopher Cannizzo said.

Two suspects are at large after a barbershop was robbed in Newark on Monday, March 17, authorities said.
At 5:16 p.m., the suspects entered a barbershop on the 900 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. said. Patrons ran to the back, except for the victim, who was still in the barber's chair, Miranda said. A Bronx man was arrested and charged with murder after a missing woman was found dead along the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers, police said.
Junior Perez Diaz, 46, of 2200 Morris Avenue, was taken into custody on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 5:17 p.m. in the 46th Precinct, authorities said. He faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and first-degree kidnapping, the NYPD said.
The victim was identified by abc7 as Pamela Alcantara, whose family had raised more than $10,000 on a GoFundMe as of press time.
