Two men were arrested and charged with stealing mail on Thursday, March 6, after a retired Fairfield police sergeant helped track them down, authorities said.
At 11:46 a.m., Joseph Keegan, a retired Fairfield police sergeant, alerted law enforcement that he saw a black Chevrolet Malibu with no license plates parked next to a mailbox on Law Drive, Fairfield police said.

Two Ocean County residents are facing charges following a raid on Wednesday, Feb. 19 that turned up numerous ghost guns and methamphetamine, authorities said.
Law enforcement conducted search warrants at multiple locations and recovered and seized, guns, including guns with no serial number- "ghost guns," extended magazines, and a quantity of methamphetamine, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said.
The defendants, George Garulle, 56, of Beachwood, and Dana Restaino, 39, of Whiting, conspired to sell a defaced firearm with no serial number, Platkin said.

A 32-year-old Jersey City man pleaded guilty in Newark federal court on Monday, Dec. 9 to committing four robberies and two shootings, all in the same evening, authorities said.
On Nov. 14, 2021, Rodney Williams robbed a store in Jersey City at gunpoint, US Attorney Phillip Sellinger said. Soon after, Williams, accompanied by Siobhan Chandler, demanded money from a gas station, Sellinger said. When the attendants did not immediately comply, Williams shot one of the attendants in the chest before fleeing the scene, Sellinger said.
