'Just Jump, We're Right Here:' Terrified Child Leaps From Burning NJ Home Into Cops' Arms
Asbury Park police sprang into action on Monday, Aug. 25, helping to rescue a child whose home was on fire, authorities said (scroll for video).
At 8:44 a.m., police were dispatched to 510 Prospect Ave. and observed heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence, Asbury Park police said.
An 8-year-old emerged from a second-floor window, jumped, and was caught by two police officers and a Good Samaritan, who worked together to safely bring the child to the ground, authorities said.

Jennifer Troch, 41, and Michael Shores Jr., 54, both of the first block of North Main Street, were pronounced dead at WellSpan York Hospital on Sunday, Aug. 3—Shores Jr. at 7:12 a.m., Troch at 7:30 a.m., Coroner Pam Gay said in separate releases. A man killed in a Jersey City apartment fire has been identified, and three children and a woman remain in critical condition, authorities said in an updated press release Thursday, May 1.
Lahcen Elmguielle, 59, of Jersey City, was pronounced dead at Jersey City Medical Center following a fire at 296 Summit Ave. on Thursday, May 1, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
