Authorities in Essex County want to know who shot Godfrey Jones in a Newark park in 2018. Reward Offered In Fatal Hit-and-Run Newark Crash: Authorities
It has been three years since 42-year-old Rajon Collins was fatally struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Newark. Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Essex County Sherriff Armando Fontoura announced on Thursday, Nov. 21, a $5,000 Crime Stoppers Program reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the fatal crash. Aggressive Bear Shot At Essex County Park: Authorities
An aggressive bear was shot by police in an Essex County park on Monday, June 10, authorities said. At 1:22 p.m., the Essex County Sherriff's Office responded to South Mountain Reservation after a woman and her young daughter were trapped by bear in Locust Grove and could not exit, authorities said. As police attempted to lead the people out of the reservation, the bear re-appeared, authorities said. As police attempted to get the bear to return to the woods, the bear advanced upon them, and police were forced to shoot him, officers said.
