NJ Forest Fire Service Provides Update On 40-Acre Wildfire
A Burlington County wildfire that erupted Monday, Nov. 18 had been mostly contained more than 24 hours later, officials said.
The 40-acre Big Rusty Wildfire, burning near Bancroft Lane and Cove Court in Hainesport, was 75% contained of the fire, as of Tuesday evening, Nov. 19, the NJ Forest Fire Service said.
Officials confirmed that no structures are currently threatened, and no evacuations have been ordered. Earlier road closures have been lifted, with Bancroft Lane, Cove Court, and Wharton Place now reopened.

New Jersey hospitals are among the safest in the nation, according to the fall 2024 Hospital Safety Grade report from The Leapfrog Group.
The Garden State ranks in the top 10 states for the highest percentage of "A" hospitals, joining states like Utah, Virginia, and Connecticut. The grades, which are updated twice a year, assess nearly 3,000 hospitals across the country on their effectiveness at preventing medical errors, accidents, and infections.

Jersey Shore Cocaine Dealer Gets 10 Years In State Prison, Prosecutors Say
A Lakewood man will spend up to a decade in prison for selling cocaine, authorities said.
Timothy Myers, 52, was sentenced on Friday, Nov. 1 to 10 years in state prison, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release.
Lakewood police were conducting drug-related surveillance on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, when they noticed a Ford Expedition make an abrupt U-turn on John Street and park in a parking lot. Detectives saw a woman exit the SUV and enter a nearby Mercedes-Benz.

Hundreds Without Power In NJ, More Storms Possible Late In The Day
Thousands of New Jersey residents woke up Monday morning, Aug. 19 without power due to Sunday's storm.
And according to the National Weather Service, more stormy weather could be on the way for later in the day.
As of 6:40 a.m., JCP&L was reporting the most outages with the following areas without power: Clinton, 880; Branchville, 150; Hopatcong, 215; Long Branch/Asbury Park, 350; Lakewood, 265.

NJ Navy Vet Who Received Pig Kidney Transplant, Heart Pump Dies After 47 Days
Lisa Pisano, the 54-year-old New Jersey resident and second-ever recipient of a pig kidney and mechanical heart, has died.
Pisano received the heart pump on April 4, and eight days later, got the pig's kidney. She lived with it for 47 days, as reported by the New York Times, before her death on Sunday, July 7.
