Man Killed In Fiery Overnight Newark Crash
A man was killed in a fiery crash early Sunday, Oct. 27 in Newark, police said. The male driver was found inside a vehicle that caught fire after crashing into a tree and colliding through a nearby residential gate at Weequahic Avenue near Bergen Street around 3:30 a.m., Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Firefighters extinguished the fire and the man was pronounced dead. No other injuries have been reported. No further information is available.

The bodies of two severely burned girls ages 6 and 8 were found at a Newark home following a fire over the weekend, officials said. Witnesses told detectives that there had been a birthday party for one of the girls on the second floor of the home and they'd been playing with fire near a couch in the hallway of the Eckert Street home on Saturday, Oct. 20, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Firefighters responding around 12:30 a.m. found the girls unresponsive and severely burned inside. They performed CPR, but the children were reported dead at the scene, authorities said. …

Man Critically Injured In Bayonne Fire: Prosecutor
A man was critically injured in a fire in Bayonne on the late afternoon of Monday, Sept. 16, authorities said. At 5:20 p.m., the Bayonne Fire Department responded to 167 West 9th St. after receiving multiple reports of a fire, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The fire was discovered in the basement, the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management said. The fire was declared under control at 5:46 p.m., OEM said. Lightning Strike Causes Fire At Turtle Back Zoo, Officials Say
A North Jersey zoo erupted in flames after being struck by lightning on Wednesday, Aug. 28, officials said. West Orange responders got a call from the Turtle Back Zoo saying its Sea Turtle Recovery Building had been struck by lightning around 9:45 p.m., a spokesperson for the town said.
