At 9 p.m., police responded to Avon Avenue and South 10th Street and found an unconscious and unresponsive infant, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. The infant was pronounced dead, authorities said. The investigation remains ongoing, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.

Man Assaulted Four People With Weapon: Newark PD A 40-year-old Newark man was arrested and charged with assaulting four men on the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 20, authorities said. At 7:47 a.m., police responded to Central Avenue and South 10th Street on a report of a man, Khalif Judd, assaulting four men using an object held inside a black bag, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Judd was arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Fragé said. The incident remain under investigation, Fragé said.
