A woman was robbed of her purse and dragged int the street in Newark on the morning of Sunday, July 14, authorities said. At 6:10 a.m., a woman was walking on Ferry Street near Union Street when she was approached by a Black man who snatched her purse, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. While in the process of removing her purse, the woman was dragged into the street by the suspect where she fell and was injured, Fragé said. A man was robbed at gunpoint of $1,600 and assaulted in Newark on the early morning of Saturday, June 6, authorities said. At 2 a.m., police responded to the 40 block of Napoleon Street and found a man suffering from lacerations to his face after he was assaulted and robbed by two to three suspects, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. A man was shot in Newark on the morning of Sunday, July 7, authorities said. At 10:43 a.m., police responded to Fourth Avenue and N. 13th Street and found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his leg, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. A man was fatally shot in Newark on the evening of Tuesday, July 2, authorities said. At 9:30 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of Park Avenue and found an unresponsive male suffering from a gunshot wound, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. Monroe Township police responded to an apparent “swatting” incident on Wednesday, July 3, authorities said.
