Queens Man Gets 15 Years For Fatally Shooting Jersey City Teen: Prosecutor
A 20-year-old Queens resident was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old Jersey City boy in 2022. In February 2022, Jersey City police responded to 112 Myrtle Ave. and found Devin Bryant, suffering from a gunshot wound, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital that evening, Suarez said. Justin Goris was 17 at the time he fatally shot Bryant and was charged as a juvenile before being tried as an adult, Suarez said. He pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in July, Suarez said.

Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutor
A man was fatally shot in the West Ward of Newark on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 18, authorities said.Police in Newark responded to the 300 block of South 7th Street and found the victim dead from a gunshot wound, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. The Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force is leading the investigation into the fatal shooting, authorities said. The victim has not been identified.

Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutor
A man was fatally shot in Newark on the evening of Thursday, Aug. 1, authorities said. The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. on South 10th Street, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. The investigation is ongoing, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.

One Killed, One Wounded In Elizabeth Shooting, Prosecutor Says
A 47-year-old man was fatally shot and a 51-year-old man was wounded in an Elizabeth shooting on Sunday, July 7, authorities said. In the early morning, police responded to the 400 block of Westminster Avenue and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said in a release. Jose Aranzamedi was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead while the other victim, a 51-year-old man, is in stable condition at a nearby hospital, authorities said. Grand Jury Declines To Indict Newark Officers In Fatal Shooting
A grand jury has decided not to indict Newark police officers who fatally shot a 29-year-old man in May 2023. The grand jury's vote follows an investigation into the shooting death of Everett Rand by the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability. In May 2023, police responded to a 911 call on a shooting in a residence on Johnson Avenue, the State Attorney General's Office said. Victim ID'd In Fatal Newark Shooting In Park: Prosecutor
A 25-year-old Newark resident has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting on Thursday June 13, authorities said. At 9 p.m., Newark police responded to Boys Park at Sussex Avenue and Duryea Street and located Raymeer Tarver suffering from gunshot wounds near a basketball court in the park, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. Tarver was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead soon after, Stephens and Frage said. The investigation is active and ongoing, Stephens and Frage said.
