At 2:02 p.m., a Chevrolet passenger vehicle, driven by Andrew Slagle, an Orange County resident from Westtown, was traveling northbound on Route 284 in Wantage Township when it veered off the roadway to the right, struck several trees and overturned, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.

Slagle sustained fatal injuries, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Slagle was a firefighter with the Wawayanda Fire Company in Slate Hill.

Colleagues, friends, and loved ones alike mourned his loss on Facebook.

"May you rest in peace Andrew Slagle," Daniel Wayne Goswick said. "You were a great lineman and you knew how to get the boys laughing. Sending prayers to your family."
