Amber Matthews, who linked her Onlyfans account to her X account, was identified as the woman who filmed herself ripping down the flags at Efi's Gyro in Montclair in March, police said.
On Monday, March 11 at 5:50 p.m., officers responded to the restaurant after the owner complained a woman, later identified as Matthews, had ripped down the decorative lighting and Greek flags from the awning, Montclair police said.
Matthews was yelling at the restaurant workers, asking them if they knew there was a "genocide going on" and that "they're killing children," while asking the employees if they were proud of their heritage, police said.
When it was then pointed out to her that the flags she ripped down were Greek flags, Matthews said, “Oh I thought it was Israel, my bad.”
Matthews had been in the establishment a week or so prior and was handing out fliers in support of Palestine, police said.
On Tuesday October 15, 2024, a video was posted to TikTok by TikTok user @ambamelia which depicted the incident from the view point of the suspect, police said.
With this additional lead, detectives were able to identify and arrest Matthews. She was charged with bias and intimidation and is due back in court in December.
Matthews' video has more than 4.5 million views.
