Man Killed In Fatal Jersey Fire: Prosecutor A 56-year-old Jersey City man was killed in a fire on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 16, authorities said. At 10 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire at 121 Garfield Ave. in Jersey City, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire coming from a third floor bedroom of a three-story residential building, Suarez said. Update: Man Killed By NJ Transit Train Near Jersey Shore Station A man died when he was struck by a New Jersey Transit train in Red Bank, officials said. The pedestrian was hit by a southbound North Jersey Coast Line train No. 3241 at the Monmouth Street crossing at around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, an NJ Transit spokesperson said. The crossing is next to the Red Bank transit station. The train left New York Penn Station at 12:12 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Long Branch at 1:45 p.m. None of the 25 passengers or crew on the train were injured. Man Shot In Jersey City: Authorities A 34-year-old man was briefly hospitalized after being shot multiple times in Jersey City on the early morning of Sunday, Oct. 6, authorities said. At 3:35 a.m., the man was transported to a nearby hospital from Eastern Parkway and Garfield Avenue after he sustained non-life threatening injuries to the right buttocks, right thigh area and right wrist, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said.  He was treated and released from the hospital on Monday, Oct. 7, Wallace-Scalfione said. The investigation is ongoing, Wallace-Scalfione said.

Man Critically Injured In Bayonne Fire: Prosecutor A man was critically injured in a fire in Bayonne on the late afternoon of Monday, Sept. 16, authorities said. At 5:20 p.m., the Bayonne Fire Department responded to 167 West 9th St. after receiving multiple reports of a fire, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The fire was discovered in the basement, the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management said. The fire was declared under control at 5:46 p.m., OEM said. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by the Hudson County Regional ArsonTask Force and the Bayonne Fire Department, Suarez said.
